Chic Consignment – 44 Main Street, Andover MA
What it is: This large, airy consignment shop in the center of downtown Andover offers a thoughtfully curated assortment of clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry and a tiny bit of furniture. It’s always meticulously organized, fully stocked and beautifully merchandised (the window displays draw me in EVERY time I pass by.) You’ll find everything from youthful brands like Free People and Alice + Olivia to upscale designer pieces by Chanel and Manolo Blahnik. There’s an ever-present rack of J. Crew clothing (this is New England, after all), a great assortment of high-end jeans, and all styles are represented. Preppy ladies will find plenty of Lily Pulitzer here in the summer, too. The staff are very friendly and seem more like personal stylists – they’re always happy to help customers find something in a particular style or size and seem to have a mental catalog of what’s in store. I watch them quickly pull an assortment of things for clients to try, and it seems like they have a good amount of “regulars” whose tastes they are familiar with. The prices are reasonable (think $50-ish for $200 jeans, $15 for a casual top, etc.) and the huge seasonal sales usually cut them in half.
What I get: I’ve picked up a few tops from Anthropologie brands here over the past year, and tried on a myriad of fun dresses I have no excuse to buy. I’ll never forgive myself for leaving that perfect teal Missoni knit dress behind. When in doubt, get it! The best items go fast.
Verdict: I love this shop! I find myself there 1-2 times a month. There’s always new stuff to browse, and the vibe inside makes for a really comfortable shopping experience.
