Shedd Park – 433 Rogers Street Lowell, MA
Highlights: This is a newer playground with lots of space to run around and structures suited for younger and older kids.
Bummers: The splash pad is only open on weekends until July, which is stupid considering how hot the weekdays in June can be, and how short our summers are here in New England. We went on a sweltering June day and it was frustrating to see it sitting there locked and dry.
What’s Nearby: A few fast food options are just blocks away (Dunkin Donuts, Wendy’s) and a Hannaford grocery store is right by the 495 exit if you need picnic supplies.
Enclosed: Both the playground and the splash pad are fully fenced with gates.
Restrooms: Real bathrooms are located on the lower level of the stone structure at the entrance to the park.
Seating: A few benches inside the playground fence, and
Shade: None on the playground or splash pad, but plenty under the covered picnic pavilion that sits between the two.
Parking: Paved lot directly next to the playground and splash pad.
